Testimonials, Advice, Venting, and Straight Talk about Early Childhood Studies

My Supports

There are so many things in my life that give me support, but the most important think is my faith in God. I believe that we all have a purpose here on earth. It might take some of us longer to find what that purpose is. Each day when I wake up I thank God for allowing me to see another day. The next thing I do is say a bible verse because I have to stay prepared for the enemy. One of my favorite bible verses is John3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.  I thank God for that gift and I want to give back. The church has always supported me in what I wanted to do. I could always go to my pastor and talk to her about anything.

My family has supported me in all my dreams. When I make lesson plans or create activities, I always use my family as guinea pigs. I want to make sure that it is funny or if they think the children will be able to do it. They have to endure the many children songs that I listen to on YouTube so that I can teach them to my children at school. I love my family for the support that they give me.

There is one co-worker who is always there for me to vent my frustrations to. Every day is not a good day at work. Sometimes the children aren’t at their best behavior. She will give me a break so that I can have a few minutes for myself. Sometimes other co-workers get on my nerves. No matter what the issue may be, she is always there for me. Without the support of my family, friend, and my love for God; I don’t know what I would do some days. God will send you a people for your life and I know that I have mine. The children in my care are my angels, but sometimes I have to get away from them for the moment. When I take five for me, I can be the best and the support that they need in the classroom. The children, my family, my friend and my love for God help me to maintain my sanity.

My sons and my husband.

Portia, my co-worker. she is my rock. I can lean on her anytime.

The Bible. This is my sword and shield.

I want to open my own Learning Center in the near future. The challenges that I am facing are monies and location. Public school is such a competitor when it comes to child care. I want to focus on children ages 3 to 5 years old. I want to serve children that would normally not be able to go to any child care center unless they pay for the services. I would like to focus on at-risk children. Funding is at a record low. I would need the support of the government and the community in order to achieve this goal. I would need someone who could right grants for me. I would also need someone to go into the community with me to advocate and educate families on what I am trying to establish. It is going to be a lot of footwork, late nights, knocking on doors, and telephone calls. If it wasn’t for people like me with the determination. to make a difference in the lives of children who will be their voice?

Just me and a few of my babies.
