This weeks blog was very emotional for me. I recently attended a vigil for children that had been abused and killed in 2011. Abuse is a terrible thing when it includes anybody, but when it is a defenseless child it brings on a number of feelings. I was sad, shocked and very ANGRY.
The three items that I have included in this weeks blog are:
The Creative Curriculum is the curriculum that we use at the agency that I work for. It is very helpful in suggesting teaching strategies and activities for making lesson plans. It also helps when setting up your classroom centers.

This song is about a child that was abused. Please play this video. Remember that children are a “GIFT FROM GOD”. They didn’t ask to come into this world.

I use the Creative Curriculum in my preschool and I think it is an amazing resource. There are so many aspects to the curriculum that I am just beginning to explore. It is an amazing curriculum and resource to share, thank you! Also, I subscribe to Young Children. It is an amazing publication. I also highly recommend Teaching Young Children, also by NAEYC. This publication is directed more to what happens in the classroom and to curriculum development and activities.
The video was very powerful. It makes me think about ways to inform families about different resources and support groups where they can find what they need. Families need to know that there are not alone in tough situations. It makes me so sad to see that there are children being abused. It is hard for me even imagine someone wanting to hurt a child. It is like you said, they did not ask to be here and they are blessings. That video really gave me something to think about and explore more resources to prevent children from abuse.
